BOOKINGS OPEN FOR GAMAA LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME WORKSHOP

As part of its highly successful Leadership Education Programme, GAMAA (the Graphic Arts Merchants Association of Australia) will conduct a residential workshop with the theme “Power and Influence” in Sydney in August.

Run as a three-day residential module, each workshop offers a limited number of places for professionals working in graphics, printing, publishing and related industries who are seeking to improve their business and management leadership skills and potential.

Key areas such as team building, negotiation, problem solving and values analysis provide participants with real, practical tools to take back and use in their day-to-day work environment.

The August Workshop - “Power and Influence”

The continuing digital revolution of the graphics and print industries is creating fundamental step-changes in the dynamics of the industry.

Traditional formulas that have in the past lead to success may in the future lead to failure; practices need to change to embrace the new opportunities of the digital environment.

The workshop “Power and Influence” will explore the opportunities that face leaders today in creating a new way forward.  The programme will canvas these opportunities focusing on the contributions that strong connection in relationships can make to the challenge of working within environmental uncertainty and ambiguity.

Workshop benefits:

Within the context of an intense simulated business environment, workshop participants will be challenged to….

  • review personal influencing skills and ways of improving them;

  • understand how to use power constructively to meet organisational goals;

  • create and use a wider range of personal responses to “in the moment” situations;
  • experiment with “atypical mindsets” as a response to tackling problems with colleagues;
  • deal constructively with conflict and organisational politics “on the run” ;
  • create personal “points of view” on issues and convey them impactfully to others;
  • establish robust connection with others using methods other than words;
  • use dialogue skilfully to promote “green-fields learning”  within the group; and
  • make focused and relevant decisions about how an individual participant’s leadership practice should be different to the way it is now and develop a plan for making the change happen.

The  workshop will be brought together through facilitated sessions and exercises that encourage participants to apply the course concepts to their own environment and develop personal action plans.

A key feature of this programme is the unique opportunity to meet people within the wider industry.

The GAMAA Workshops are a must for anyone who is interested in enhancing their leadership skills.  They enable you to continue to improve interpersonal skills and to explore your own personal leadership style,” said Meredith Darke, National Marketing Manager, Intergrafica Print & Pack, and President GAMAA.

The GAMAA Leadership Education Programme

Formed in 1969 GAMAA is today a major contributor to the development and advancement of the graphic media and printing technologies industry in Australia.

Comprising member companies which are representative of the graphic media and printing technologies supply market, GAMAA is focused on two strategic development areas; industry trade shows and further education.

Suppliers have always been focused on education, through the direct training of their customers and through the presentation of trade shows, which are “live” educational opportunities for industry.

The GAMAA Leadership Education Programme, launched in 2002, is a natural extension to this educative role and complements the strategic imperative of the knowledge economy through the implementation of business management education programmes.
