In August GAMAA will host a one-day workshop, Coaching for Success: How to Hold Effective Conversations. Led by Australia’s preeminent academic in coaching Dr. Anthony Grant (pictured), the workshop will explore the practical aspects of coaching with specific reference to the power of engaging in ‘effective conversations’.
Coaching is a term often used in sports. If you’ve been involved in competitive sport you’ve probably been coached. If your coach was a combination of teacher, motivator and role model, then it is likely you and your team reached close to its full potential. Unfortunately, in business this experience is all too rare. In business there is too much untapped potential.
GAMAA has awarded four Leadership Scholarships for 2010.The successful applicants
are Adrian Sheedy, Blue Star; Erin Mercieca Manroland; Mark George, Böttcher and;
Matt McRobert NSW Department of Lands.
LAST CHANCE TO SECURE YOUR PLACE AT THE OCTOBER SYDNEY RESIDENTIAL WORKSHOP
Change Management: New World New Rules. 23 – 24 October 2009. Acknowledging the many challenges facing both the printing and graphic arts industry as a whole and individual businesses, GAMAA has created a unique two day workshop – Change Management: New World New Rules.
At the Business Forum sessions at PacPrint09 this year a key message came through in all the presentations – companies need to invest in their people to ensure they are motivated, trained and ready to act on opportunities as the market recovers.
Numbers may have been down on the previous event, but PacPrint09 was given a resounding tick of approval by the GAMAA members who attended this industry leading event.
18197 came through the doors of the show, and the general consensus was that the ‘quality’ of visitor was high with many senior managers and decision makers in attendance.
As the co-presenter of PacPrint09, together with Printing Industries, GAMAA is looking forward to welcoming visitors to what is the most anticipated Show on the industry’s calendar for 2009.
President of GAMAA, Mitchell Mulligan, said that despite current economic circumstances companies are still doing business, still investing and still planning for the future.
SURVIVING AND THRIVING IN AN AGE OF CHANGE ONE DAY WORKSHOP SYDNEY 26th March
As Australia slides inevitably into recession, the companies that get to the top (and stay there) will be those that manage creatively in changing and challenging market conditions. The old management solutions just won't fly when your clients are forced to do more with less budget and your profits and cash flow are directly on the line.
In May our executive director, Karen Goldsmith travelled to drupa. Unlike most of the hoards in attendance, Karen was there to visit with her counterparts from the US and UK in particular, and to also discover the trends and activities at the show that can influence the Australian events GAMAA hosts including next year’s PacPrint09.

Aldus Engineering has been a member of GAMAA since 2001 when it purchased the Graftek company who was also a member at the time. Aldus differs from
many GAMAA member companies in that we specialise in the web converting and flexographic printing sector of the industry.
As the founder of PrintEX, GAMAA is excited about the new directions for the show in 2007 that sees an expanded floor space and a reinvigorated education stream that replaces the previous workshop model with an interactive forum. Visitors to the show can expect to see an increased number of suppliers demonstrating new products, solutions and equipment as would be expected.
