DIC Australia
DIC ANZ is committed to being a world’s best supplier of inks, coatings, systems and services. The company develops solutions that satisfy needs for higher quality print and specifically tailors its solutions to suit defined customer requirements.
DIC Australia recently took the opportunity to celebrate a significant anniversary – marking the establishment of Coates in Australia in 1949. The original buildings in Moorabbin (Victoria) and Auburn (New South Wales) are still in use today for ink blending and manufacturing.
In 1981 Coates Brothers was purchased by Total, the French oil company. In 1999, Sun Chemical purchased Coates Lorilleux from Total. Sun Chemicals is 100% owned by the DIC Corporation of Japan.
Coates Brothers changed its name to DIC Graphics Australia in September 2005. In December 2006, the company changed to DIC Australia.
Throughout its history DIC has been involved with GAMAA, first as a member under the Coates badge and now under DIC Australia. Its former CEO David Rands has been a past-president of GAMAA and also served on the GAMAA Executive Committee.
DIC’s Web Business Manager Meredith Darke has also been a past President of GAMAA and currently is an Executive Committee member. Both have chaired various GAMAA Task Groups.
“GAMAA provides an opportunity for its members to make a contribution to the graphic arts industry in a meaningful way that extends beyond the individual,” says Meredith Darke.
“There are multiple benefits to membership, but one of the most valuable is the opportunity to network with people who are working in the same environment and to share experiences and ideas.”
